In several places on the Loess Bluff Route, unsigned roads constitute such a maze that they are impossible for outsiders to navigate by following directions given here.

Probably the best traveling strategy in such places is to simply embark on any well-maintained country road and navigate by the sun or compass.  Using this technique you are bound to come to some dead ends, but if you are careful to not trespass or give the appearance of trespassing on anyone's private property, this can be part of the fun.  Someday this marvelous landscape will be available to travelers from the outside, but it is not now.
