Garden Onion, ALLIUM CEPA, large field

from the the March 30, 2014 Newsletter issued from the Frio Canyon Nature Education Center in the valley of the Dry Frio River in northern Uvalde County, southwestern Texas, on the southern border of the Edwards Plateau

I thought you might be interested in seeing a commercial field of onions just north of Uvalde, irrigated with aquifer water, shown above.

I think the onion normally planted in this area is ALLIUM CEPA 'Texas 1015 SuperSweet,' developed at Texas A & M University by Leonard Pike in 1980.
