DEER BRUSH

Deer Brush, Ceanothus integerrimus, unlike some other Ceanothus species, has deciduous leaves and the flowers are so fragrant that many foothill folks call the shrub "Wild Lilac." It is abundant in the foothills, in the forests as well as along roads and at field edges. Below, you can see Deer Brush's flowers:
