IN ENGLISH: appearing in the magazine by Jehú Hernández Surely many people would think that a butterfly reserve couldn't be at all attractive, but that's not so. It happens that the Viernes Chiquito team visited the Nicaragua Butterfly Reserve, located only four kilometers from Granada, on a road that, although it's not so good, shouldn't keep you from going there. This place came into being three years ago thanks to Jane Foulds. She is a North American who always loved butterflies and all the stages they went through to become such beautiful creatures -- though some of them aren't as pretty as is said. Well, in her reserve Jane began to cultivate plants with flowers that provided the butterflies' food. Eventually she had such a great variety that it occurred to her to open up the place as a tourist attraction, a destination where people could go, see butterflies, and learn all about their reproduction. It's delightful for adults to see them, and children are just fascinated. In urban areas sometimes it's just impossible to see butterflies anymore. Today's children need to see these marvelous things. In our De Gira section on pages 8, 9 and 10 we show you a little of the enormous beauty the reserve contains, and the experiences enjoyed by the Viernes Chiquito crew. Go see this place with your family. |
