WHAT ARE
PEOPLE TO DO?
| I think it's
probably impossible for any human mind to grasp the full impact of what it means to be
alive on our little Earth in this typical galaxy in this unacceptional corner of the
Universe. We just don't have all the senses needed, or the brainpower. However, there's
one insight that at least feels like a good guess as to why we're here. By
"feels" I mean that the explanation seems harmonious with what I've experienced
in Nature. One way to express it is that all living, feeling things are like "nerve endings" for the the ever-evolving, ever-self-exploring Universal Creative Force. When a hummingbird really enjoys supping nectar from a honeysuckle, the Creator feels that pleasure. When a beautiful, innocent child dies a terrible death, the Creator feels the loss in the hearts of those remaining, thus knowing what a wonderful thing that child had been. When a person has an insight revealing something until now mysterious, the Creator feels Herself growing and maturing. If we accept this concept, then the task we humans have before us is simple: We must experience the Universe. We must live. In this context, making a mistake is not a sin, but being too lazy or fearful to put yourself into a position where you might possibly make a mistake is awful. Inaction and dulling one's senses as by overindulgence or overuse of stimulants are cardinal sins. Once we decide to be active, feeling beings, the question arises as to what kinds of actions to take. The answer is, accept Nature as "Devine Revelation," and study what Nature teaches.
